With so much time on my hands I have finally picked up and started reading books that I have owned for quite a long time, but was just to busy to read them. So as Of current I am reading Anne Rice's Servant of the Bones. It is so detailed and imagery filled. It is stunning. In addition, I am also re-reading The Watchmen, since the movie comes out in February. The Watchmen is a graphic novel, or long comic book, but it is a great piece of literary work. I suggest both.
So I was woken up to yelling last night, Andrea and her mom fighting on the phone. For those trying to figure out why Andrea's mom has been difficult during the whole engagement, it's due to the fact that she hates me. Not for anything I've done. But for the simple fact that I don't make “6-figures” a year. My only hope is that she missed the talk (I think) by Elder Worthlin about families and marriage, and I can have her read it with Andrea and I when the Ensign comes out. IT was so great to hear a General Authority re-iterate that striving after a worthy companion that can go to the temple with you is more important than marrying someone that only makes you happy in worldly ways. He said that basing a marriage on status and ideas can never make up for love and the loss of an eternal family. So the most important thing in a marriage is the Eternal part, that is full of love, caring, sharing, and a true companionship with you and your spouse and the Lord. It's a wonder how any LDS person, that has a testimony of the gospel, can look at only the worldliness and material benefits of entering into a marriage. What sad times we live in that our fellow Saints have lost site of the true purpose of marriage. I hope that one day Andrea's mom can just except Andrea's decision to marry me is based on love and wanting an eternal companion, something she wouldn't get if she went about marriage the way her mom would want it.
There is a plus, we'll have some “Family” at the reception if things start going amiss.

Dude, I would totally trade Mike's job with money for one where he was paid less but home with the family everyday. In a heart beat! Money IS NOT EVERYTHING, it is evil! Family first, kill the rest. (ok, don't know about that last bit, but it fit.)
